This person is a member of Sanger Institute Alumni.
I left the Institute on 16th August 2022 after 24 happy and productive years, to pursue a new career in Bio-tech
My role is to curate genomes as quickly and accurately as possible. I write Python to streamline this process.
Alan has a huge amount of expertise in curating genomes from many branches of the “tree of life”, using many data types such as Hi-C, optical mapping and long-read sequencing. He interfaces with post-doctoral researchers and bioinformaticians to ensure the insights gained from curation translate into research advances and algorithm development. He writes code to facilitate genome curation, from producing genome visualisations to generating fasta files directly from Hi-C map output.
