I joined Allan's lab in 2013 and have since been working on Transposon - mediated mutagenesis screens in mice. These screens allow the discovery of novel tumor suppressors and oncogenes in vivo by using mice that harbor gene activating and/or inactivating transposon constructs. The artificial transposons are mobilized pseudo-randomly throughout the genome in a tissue specific manner. Arising tumors are collected and Next Generation Sequencing identifies the integration sites of the transposon constructs. This enables us to discover new candidate cancer genes for further evaluation. Together with Manos Metzakopian, I also have worked to develop CRISPR/Cas9 tools for gain and loss of function screens.
