Research focus: somatic mutations in non-cancerous tissue. The DNA in our cells is undergoing mutagenesis as we age and as we expose ourselves to mutagens (eg. UV, tobacco). How many mutations do we accumulate in each tissue? Are there "clonal patches" of cells containing the same somatic mutations? How do we go from healthy tissue to cancer? I am part of a research team that uses whole-genome sequencing and deep sequencing of healthy tissue to detect somatic variants. My main interest is in the computational analysis of the datasets that we generate, constantly challenging myself to learn new methods and expand my computational horizon. Interests: computational biology, genomics, data science
